Kingdom Arts & Sciences Competition
Saturday, August 2nd A.S. XXXVIII (2003)
from 9:00am to 9:00pm
Yavapai College Performance Hall
in Prescott, Arizona

Site
This year's Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition will be held at the Yavapai College Performance Hall in Prescott, Arizona (within the Shire of Granite Mountain). The site is an 1100 seat auditorium with an assortment of other meeting spaces, including a two story lobby, green room, stage, three dressing rooms, and a loading dock. The back half of the auditorium and the balcony will be closed off to make the hall more suitable to our anticipated attendance. The site is entirely air conditioned and the cooling system is designed to handle large crowds. Site is also handicapped accessible with special seating available in the hall. The only area not accessible is children's corner in the upper lobby.
The site will open at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 2nd for set up, open to the public at 9:00 am, and close at 9:00 pm that evening. Please see the detailed schedule of events below.
The Competitions
The Kingdom A&S web site contains all the competition rules and regulations. Those entrants who intend to compete for the title of Kingdom Arts & Sciences Champion must submit a letter of intent to Their Royal Majesties King Erick and Queen Nichelle and to the Kingdom Arts & Sciences Minister, Lady Eden Blacksmith. The deadline for the Letter of Intent is July 2nd AS38 (2003).
The very first Champion's Tourney will also be held this year, open to all previous Aten Kingdom Champions. The Champion's Tourney will be displayed and judged separately from the regular Arts & Sciences Competition. For more information about the Champion's Tourney, contact Lady Eden Blacksmith.
Laurels Gallery & Populace Display
The Kingdom Arts & Sciences Minister, Lady Eden Blacksmith, asks all the Laurels of the Kingdom of Atenveldt to come and bring their works of art (past, present, and in progress) so that the populace may admire, appreciate, delight, and gather inspiration in the wonders of our most praised artisans. Lady Maredudd of Atenveldt, in charge of the Gallery, will give each Laurel space to display their works.
In conjunction with the Laurels Gallery, Lady Maredudd of Atenveldt is also organizing a Populace Display. This display is open to all the kingdom populace, adults and children, competitors and non-competitors alike. This is your opportunity to show the kingdom what latest creation(s) you have been working on.
Both the Laurel's Gallery and the Populace Display will be open for set-up at 9am. Take-down begins at 6pm that day. Tables will be provided, but if you have any sort of available table coverings, please bring them. Also, cards will be provided as means of identifying your work, as well as comment sheets if paticipants so desire.
If you would like to reserve your display space, or have any other questions about the Laurel's Gallery or the Populace Display, please contact Lady Maredudd of Atenveldt at maredudd17@att.net.
Directions
From the Valley of the Sun, travel north on Interstate 17 to Highway 69 (Cordes Junction). Travel west on Hwy. 69 into Prescott, staying in the right hand lane marked "Sheldon Street truck route" as you approach the city limits. This road turns into Hwy 89 as it goes south through Prescott. The entrance to Yavapai College is the first light on Sheldon Street after you enter town and you will turn right into the college at the light (Marston Ave.). The Performance Hall is the first large block building on your left. Please follow the signs for parking and the main entrance. If you have an especially large entry that must be dropped off in the loading dock please come in and speak with the Autocrats first. They will arrange for the loading dock doors to be opened for you. The physical address of the site is 1100 East Sheldon, Prescott, AZ 86301.
From the north take Interstate 40 to Hwy 89 and south to Prescott, or from the north east part of the Kingdom you would take Interstate 17 south to Hwy 169 then west onto Hwy 69 and follow the directions from there.
CAUTION: The college is currently experiencing construction involving the main entrance and parking areas. Follow signs carefully and you'll have no trouble. We apologize for this inconvenience.
