Granite Mountain Badge / Award / Charter Ideas
One of the great opportunities a baronial branch of the SCA has is awarding its populace for various aspects of excellence in the current middle ages. When a shire wants to work at elevating its branch status one of the tasks is creating award orders or charters to recognize members of its populace. Our heralds, officers and populace have been throwing around some ideas about the creation of the heraldic representation of these awards. Generally an award has a heraldic badge and name submitted and registered to keep it unique as possible in the known world. Awards are given in various areas and en devours (hardsuit combat, the arts and sciences, rapier, archer, youth activities, grace, the list can go on and on) Since these charters are given out for our local area we should try to add the embellishments and touches of the local flavor to keep our charters very close to home. The registering process can take quite a while (and has to be reviewed by heralds, on multiple levels of our society). Because of that we are hoping to get all comments and ideas to our local heralds by July 1st, 2008 so they have ample time to start the long submission process."
