When one thinks about the period encompassed by the Society for Creative Anachronism, usually the first image that comes to mind is that of the "Knight in Shining Armour". SCA Combat can bring that to life for you. Our traditional combat is hand to hand armoured combat. Both men and women are eligible to participate and we even have special forms of combat for children and teens. We place a huge emphasis on safety both in our armour and equipment, and in our behaviour on and off the field. The Shire has many members willing and able to help you get started but the best place to begin would probably be by contacting the Marshall. He or she is the officer who will oversee the training and fighting sessions for all of the Shire Combat. Practices are held weekly and periodic workshops for honing skills or building weapons and armour are held. Follow the links at left to find your particular area of interest. Why not armour up and fight for your Ladye(or Lord) on the field of honour! We hold frequent Tournaments for single combat. This is the method that Atenveldt uses every year to choose the new heir to the throne. In addition there are many "wars" that one can participate in. It is a glorious and inspiring site to see several hundred armoured men fighting for their King on the field of battle.
