So You Want To Be A Knight?........ Without a doubt, one of the most distinctive, and perhaps even defining elements of the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods was the concept of Knighthood with all of the fact and fantasy associated with it. The Society for Creative Anachronism seeks to continue the quest for Chivalry, Valour and Honor through the training of modern day Knights. Not every fighter in the Society will achieve that lofty rank, but in the Quest you will find fulfillment, camaraderie, gratification, great exercise, and some really world-class bruises! Oh yes, it's a heck of a lot of fun too!! In Atenveldt, the Heirs to the Throne are chosen every six months by single combat. You do not need to be a belted (Knighted) fighter to compete, although there are certain requirements for entry to the Crown Lists (that's what we call the Tournaments where a new King and Queen are chosen.) A word to the Fairer Sex, remember, there are many belted and non-belted female fighters in the Society. The King and Queen assuming the Throne of Atenveldt in May 2004 are both Knights of the Society!
